Recombinant Human VEGF165
Synonyms: Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, VPF, Folliculostellate cell-derived growth factor,
Glioma-derived endothelial cell mitogen
Description: VEGF is a potent growth and angiogenic cytokine. It stimulates proliferation and
survival of endothelial cells, and promotes angiogenesis and vascular permeability. Expressed in
vascularized tissues, VEGF plays a prominent role in normal and pathological angiogenesis. Substantial
evidence implicates VEGF in the induction of tumor metastasis and intra-ocular neovascular syndromes.
VEGF signals through the three receptors; fms-like tyrosine kinase (flt-1), KDR gene product (the
murine homolog of KDR is the flk-1 gene product) and the flt4 gene product. Recombinant human
VEGF is a 38.2 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric protein consisting of two 165 amino acid polypeptide
chains.
Catalog #: 100-20 Lot #: 030310
Source: E.coli
Purity: Greater than 98% by SDS-PAGE gel and HPLC analyses
Endotoxin level: Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per mg (1EU/mg).
Formulation: Sterile filtered through a 0.2 micron filter. Lyophilized with no additives.
Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of
0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and
stored at 4oC for 1 week or -20oC for future use.
Stability: The lyophilized protein is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best
stored at -20oC. Reconstituted VEGF should be stored in working aliquots at -
20oC.
Biological Activity: Determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human
umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) using a concentration range of 1.0-8.0
ng/ml.
